Obituary for Wanda Kay Dixon (Sinks)

McMinnville, TN and Warren County, TN native, Wanda Kay Sinks Dixon, age 71, passed away on September 3, 2022, at her home at the age of 71 after losing her courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to cherish and honor her life.

Wanda was born on September 15, 1950 to the late Albert and Bessie Elise Rhea Sinks in McMinnville, TN. Maternal grandparents were Issac and Frankie Lee Smartt Rhea and paternal grandparents were Will “Buck” and Amanda Bullard Sinks.

Wanda was an active member of Pleasant Hill New Life Baptist Church. She loved her church family and friends. She was married to Ervin “Big E” Dixon of McMinnville, TN on July 6, 1990. The couple never had any children, but loved Christina Martin as their own daughter.

In addition to her husband, Wanda is survived by brothers, Wayne (Connie) Sinks of McMinnville, TN; and Junior (Sue) Sinks of McMinnville, TN; mother-in-law, Jean Miller; sisters-in-law Pam (Tim) Minton; Sally (Mike) Hillis; of McMinnville, TN; special nieces, April Miller and Amy Aldridge; special nephews, Bert Sinks and Craig Sinks; special friend Josh Martin; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She supported her family in all their endeavors and loved her family very much. Wanda’s friends, family, and colleagues will miss her bright smile and loving personality.

A special thank you to Dr. Yanjun Ma, caring staff, and Michelle & Haley Nichols for all their love and support that they provided during her long battle with cancer.

Please join us for a Tie-Dye Celebration of her life on Saturday, September 10, 2022, Everyone show honor to Wanda by wearing your favorite tie-dye shirt. Brother Barry Gibbs will officiate at Pleasant Hill New Life Baptist Church in Warren County, TN. Visitation for family and friends will be at the church from 9:00 - 1:00 pm with a celebration service beginning at 1:00 pm.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kastaway Kitties, Viola Valley Dogs, or local animal shelter.

There will be no visitation or services at the funeral home.
