Obituary for Marilyn Jo Keenan

Marilyn Jo Buchanan Keenan, of Maryville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at her home after a brief battle with cancer. She was 68.

Marilyn was born October 31, 1952, in Townsend. She graduated from Everett High School in 1971 and married John C. Keenan in September 1972.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Herschel Buchanan and Mary Lee Caylor and stepfather Robert Caylor; two brothers Eddie Buchanan and Steven Buchanan; and one granddaughter Tiffany Fleenor Stone.

Marilyn retired from UT Medical Center with 30 years of service where she managed the billing department. She was a member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church. Marilyn loved reading her Bible, talking with Jesus, taking daily walks with her husband, finding a bargain at Goodwill or a local thrift store, and loving on her family.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 48 years, John C. Keenan of Maryville; her stepchildren John Kent (Teresa) Keenan of Farragut; Charles Mark (Pam) Keenan of Somerset, KY; and Jacquelyn Keenan of Knoxville. Grandchildren: Samantha Thompson of Harriman; Kendra (Jonathan) Seagraves of Richmond Hill, GA; Sara Keenan of Richmond Hill, GA; and Johnny Keenan of Somerset, KY; Morgan Keenan of Sanford, NC; Ryann (Ryan) Kennedy of Knoxville; Savannah Ward of Chattanooga; Jake Keenan of Lenoir City; and William Ward of Farragut. Great-grandchildren: Haley Keenan, Gage Stone, Will Seagraves, Stella Seagraves, Ethan Thompson, Emma Thompson, and Collin Seagraves. One great-great-grandchild on the way. One sister, Sherri Andrews, and several nephews and nieces.

A private graveside service for family and close friends will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, 1:30 PM CST, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in McMinnville, TN.
