James Ronnie Mixon, age 75 of Knoxville, Tennessee passed from this life on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at his home.
Ronnie was born Thursday, March 14, 1946 in Summitville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late John Mixon and the late Thelma Dean Macon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Sarah Louise Dillard and grandmother Ethel Sims Macon who raised him from childhood.
Ronnie, as he was affectionately known, was educated in the Coffee County School System, where he excelled in football. He graduated from Davidson Academy High School, Tullahoma, TN in 1964.
Following graduation he served in the U.S. Navy. After an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy. He began working for UPS as an over-the-road truck driver. While working there he received many accolades and awards during his career at UPS. In 2002 he retired after 33 years of service.
Ronnie was an avid fan of boating. He spent many days on the lake with his boating friends.
One of Ronnie's passions was getting together at family gatherings, singing and Karoking with family and friends, especially singing one of his favorites, "Me and Mrs. Jones."
Ronnie obeyed the gospel while at the Central Church of Christ in Knoxville, TN and was baptized by Eric Bonner where he remained faithful.
Ronnie is survived by his two sons, Cedric Deland Benford and his wife Andrea and Terrell Mixon, four grandchildren Dominique Jeane Benford, Cedric Deland Benford II, Caimen Mixon, and Faith Mixon, two loving sisters, Thelma Joyce Solomon and Genola Sanders and husband Joe, devoted friends Willie J. and Freda Johnson, brother-in-law William K. Dillard Sr., three devoted nieces Sonia Dillard Foster, Tammie Dalton, Gwen Frazier, three nephews Kenny Solomon, William Dillard Jr., Joe Sanders Jr. and a host of other devoted cousins, church family and friends.

A Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday at Gardens of Memory Funeral Home located at 415 North Chancery St. McMinnville, Tennessee 37110. Interment will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Smartt, TN.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Gardens of Memory Funeral Home, 415 North Chancery St., McMinnville, Tennessee.
