Obituary for Gloria Mae Spicer (McGowan)

Gloria Mae Spicer, age 89 of Rock Island, Tennessee passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023, at her home in Rock Island of an extended illness.

Gloria was born on Wednesday, August 16, 1933 in Santa Fe, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late John McGowan and Myra Letsinger McGowan. In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Fleeman and Christine Bryant, four brothers, Earl McGowan, Leslie McGowan, Paul McGowan, and Douglas McGowan and nephews, John Harrison Bryant and Leslie Paul McGowan.

Gloria was a housewife and a member of Fall City Baptist Church in Rock Island, TN.

Gloria is survived by her husband of 62 years, Mayford Spicer of Rock Island, TN; one Son and Daughter-In-Law, Joey and Angie Spicer of Rock Island, TN, three Daughters and Sons-In-Law, Sue and Jack Eaton of Centerton, AR; Kathryn and Ben Kelly of Memphis, TN; Karen and Rodney Roach of Carrollton, TX; nine Grandchildren, Emily and Greg Harrison, Charlotte and Tim Evans, Wesley and Katy Eaton, Coby and Jade Spicer, Caleb and Taylor Ranstrom , Kelsey and Jon Kelly, Kyle Roach, BJ Kelly and Hannah Kelly; ten Great-Grandchildren along with special nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family extends special thanks to the staff at Avalon Hospice for the wonderful care and support she received.

A Funeral Service was held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Gardens of Memory Funeral Home with Joey Spicer officiating. Interment followed in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Warren County.

The family received friends 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2023 and again on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Gardens of Memory Funeral Home.

Gardens of Memory Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
