I am sorry to hear of your passing. I didn't get to say anything more than a brief hello the last time I was up in Potsdam, and I'm sorry we won't have the chance to more properly catch up. Thank you for all you did for the school, and for me when I was a student there.

I cannot recall a time when people didn't smile when they saw Gerald, his smile was contagious as were his hugs! He always had that extra sense and could tell if you were having an "off" day. It didn't matter how busy his schedule was or if he was running off to a meeting, he would take the time to say hi, give a hug, and/or provide assistance before he went on his way. I met Gerald at SUNY Potsdam when I was a college student and he asked me to be part of a search committee for the English & Communications department. From that day forward, he always supported me in whatever I was doing. I missed him when he retired from SUNY Potsdam and I will continue to miss him now, but I hope that he is resting peacefully and I give condolences to all of his family. It was truly an honor to be called a friend and colleague of Gerald's!

I am so sorry for your loss...our loss. Gerald was the best of the best. Stylish in everything he ever did. He was my mentor and my friend. I learned and experienced so much because of him. I have missed him so much since he left Potsdam. The world is a less fair and creative place, now that he is gone.

Gerald, you were the light in the "power tower" and I always looked forward to seeing and speaking to you. You always had the best advice, and that sparkling smile, with a little mischief in your eyes! Okay... maybe a lot of mischief. I have missed you my friend, and pray that you rest in peace. May your family know how much you were loved here at SUNY Potsdam, and I pray for them during their time of grief.
