Obituary for George McKinley Dodson Sr.
George McKinley Dodson, Sr., age 97 of Rocky River, Tennessee passed from this life on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at NHC HealthCare, McMinnville.
George was born Wednesday, October 13, 1920 in Granite, Oklahoma, he was the son of the late Samuel Dodson and Della Sells Dodson.
He was a World War II Veteran serving in the US Army. He also was a member of the Baptist Church and a Sunday School teacher.
George is survived by his:
3 daughters - June Mears and husband Vernon
Thelma Boyd and husband Jerry
Phyllis Johnson and husband David
son - Lonnie Roberts
13 grandchildren
27 great grandchildren
19 great great grandchildren
many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends also survive.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife Vina Yates Dodson, daughter Hazel Hennessee, two sons Leonard and George "Cotton" Dodson Jr., grandson Scottie Boyd, great great grandson Leo Baldwin, 3 sisters Juanita Bouldin, Belle Allen, and Joyce Boyd
A Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at Gardens of Memory Funeral Home with Bruce Nunley and Dennis Deweese officiating . Interment will be in Crain Hill Cemetery, Rocky River, TN.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 9 PM on Monday, January 8, 2018, and again Tuesday from 8 AM to 1 PM at Gardens of Memory Funeral Home, 415 North Chancery St., McMinnville, Tennessee.
