Mr. Aubrey Lee Mears, age 71 of McMinnville, Tennessee passed from this life peacefully August 9, 2020, at his home surrounded by family and friends. His passing marks the end of a long battle with cancer that he fought with love and grace.
Aubrey was born Friday, August 13, 1948 in Winchester, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Aubrey Mears Sr. and the late Mary Keller Mears Durham. He was the husband of Donna Mears.
Aubrey serviced our country in Vietnam and was a member of Gath Baptist Church.
Aubrey never met a stranger. He would light up a room talking about hunting or just with his jokes and humor. He and his wife of 23 years loved to travel as often as they could, and they would take you on that adventure too. He loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter, a loyal friend, a great teacher, a loving husband,and a great father and grandpa. He had a great love for sharing the Bible.
Aubrey was survived by his wife, Donna Mears and daughter, Rylie M. Mabe and son Eli J. Mabe of McMinnville. He also survived by his daughters, Jillian Arnold and Leia Milligan of Alabama, step-daughters, Jenny Crouch and Robin Emigh of McMinnville. Also surviving are his loving grandchildren, Zarek W. Ward of McMinnville, Tavian, Micah and Ava Milligan of Alabama, Hayden Holder and Haylee Emigh of Murfreesboro, Mother-in-law Marie Anderson of McMinnville. Also surviving are his siblings, Sandra (Roy) Kelley, Frances (Larry) Campbell Patricia Mears and David (Cissy) Mears. Several nieces, nephews and cousins, family and friends also survive.
Aubrey was preceded in death by his grandson, Hunter A. Atchley of Alabama, sisters, Betty Jean Meeks and Ann Powers, brother, Eddie Mears, and his precious mother Louise Durham.
A memorial service will be held at the Gath Baptist Church on August 23, 2020 at 2 PM with Bro. Rick Stewart officating. Interment will be at a later date.
